HMP Wormwood Scrubs


Our client is a non-profit company owned entirely by the Ministry of Justice, supplying facilities management services to 50 prisons over the South and East of the UK with over 1,400 staff.

The work can be a challenging but is also very rewarding.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the shift to deliver planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and other aid as required in order to meet sites short term and long-term goals andobjectives.

Duties of the Mechanical Supervisor will include, but not limited to:

  • To take accountability for the supervision of all staff within their area of and other site staff as required providing direction on the work for the day and that relevant work area is maintained to a high standard.
  • To be responsible for managing and supervising subcontractors as required by the business.
  • Undertake staff appraisals providing relevant performance information to Line Managers
  • To take accountability for the effective management of the tool inventory and maintain security standards within the work area.

Skills and Abilities the successful applicant should possess:

  • A minimum of five years' experience, ideally within an FM environment and/ or secure environment, military, health or similar sectors.
  • Experienced plumber, qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing & Heating) and/ or NVQ Lvl 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems.
  • Familiar with, and ability to, work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
  • A rounded knowledge of risk and compliance and demonstrable planning & project management skills.
  • Experience with CAFM system (desirable however not essential)
