Description

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on Public Health initiatives as part of Southampton Maternity Services, working in partnership with organisations to improve outcomes for mothers and babies.

This role requires leadership of a clinically experienced midwife with expertise in leading change and a background in public health.


The public health specialist midwife will lead on public health initiatives across Southampton and Hampshire supporting women accessing maternity care with Southampton University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


We care for around 5200 women giving birth each year in Southampton and are proud of our innovative approaches to improving long term health outcomes for women.

Within the city we have a complex and vulnerable population with high areas of social deprivation; women and families that would significantly benefit from a leadership role in public health.


You will work in collaboration with the vaccination team lead, Infant feeding lead, midwives and tobacco advisors to deliver the aims of current and future public health agendas.

You will work in collaboration with other public health leads in the SHIP LMNS and contribute to the prevention workstreams as a system.
