Reed is proud to be partnered with a leading national health and social care charity.Due to excellent growth, they're now recruiting for a payroll assistant to work in their head office in Brighton, East Sussex.
Function of the role
To enable the company to meet its obligations of paying its employees in line with their contract of employment by the pay due date.
To facilitate and support third parties and other departments with financial support and reporting on the payroll and other associated elements of employment.
The post will be based in a small and friendly team that services over 300 project units and deals with approximately 5,000 employees.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of payroll ensuring confidentiality of personal data at all times including
Starters Leavers Changes for your region
Absences including maternity paternity and sick leave
Additional payments and deductions to employees.
Calculation of payments due to staff in line with current legislation and recovering any overpayments in line with company policy.
Ensuring that all paperwork is received with the relevant authorisations
Deal promptly and effectively with all payroll related staff queries
Liaise with HR as required to ensure that all information is received and processed correctly.
Maintain payroll filing system.
Produce schedule of staff numbers on a monthly basis.
Produce information for auditing/annual report purposes.
Contribute to process improvement and efficiency.
Assisting both Payroll manager and Assistant Payroll manager as and when is necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities that will from time to time become necessary as part of the financial management of the organisation.
Requirements:
Significant experience in high volume payroll
Previous experience of a computerised Payroll system
Ability to respond promptly to appropriate requests for assistance while ensuring confidentiality of personal data at all times
Good inter-personal skills
Experience of liaising with staff and external bodies
Good numeracy and literacy skills with an eye for detail.
Ability to communicate confidently politely and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Respond flexibly to the demands of the post.
Work as a member of a team
Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines
Ability to work with both financial and non-financial staff
Understand and have a commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and diversity.
Desirable criteria:
Experience in CORE Payroll, or sufficient payroll experience to train and learn the CORE system quickly.
Connect HR/Access Pay experience for high volume payrolls is highly desirable
Salary and work hours
Brighton/Remote - Hybrid working model
37.5 hours per week
£24,547 - £31,428 pa
