We've an exciting new opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Dispute Resolution Team on a 6 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
We're looking for a highly motivated legal professional who can confidently contribute to the Legal, Governance& Purpose team and support the delivery of the Bank's strategic objectives.
This role is about
- Being an engaged and proactive member of the Legal and Governance team.
- Managing, or supervising external solicitors in, the conduct of litigation or contentious issues raised by or against the Bank.
- Proactively supporting the management and mitigation of legal risk across the Bank.
- Influencing and managing complex stakeholder engagement both internally and externally.
- Building relationships and providing guidance to a wide range of stakeholders across the Bank.
- Liaising with external panel firms acting for the Bank and managing associated costs.
- Providing bespoke training on legal matters as required.
We need you to have
- A current practicing certificate from the Law Society of Scotland or the Law Society of England and Wales.
- LLB degree (or equivalent) with the relevant postqualification experience.
- Ability to provide 'hands on' accurate, timely and commercial legal advice.
- Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment or a desire to learn.
- Ability to build relationships.
- Excellent analytical and decisionmaking skills together with an ability to communicate in a commercial and nontechnical manner.
- A desire to make a genuine difference in moving the Bank forward.
