Job Description:

Department

Our Power Trading function is responsible for all EDF Trading's commercial activities in Europe. The team covers fundamental analysis, building and executing trading strategies across the geographical markets in Europe.

Position purpose

Reporting to the Senior Power Trader, this role will support the Benelux Power business.

Main responsibilities


Being part of the Benelux desk team will give you an opportunity to have a hand-on experience on European power markets with a focus on Holland and Belgium.

You will have time to learn but also be challenged from day 1 by working directly next to the traders in a fast-paced environment.

This is a great opportunity to grow and start a career in power trading.

Main responsibilities

  • Help develop profitable trading strategies and assist with their implementation and management
  • Work with the power traders to identify growth opportunities for the business
  • Collaborate with market analysts and traders to provide support
  • Use a professional approach at all times and set high standards
Learning

  • Understand main drivers of continental power markets, specifically for Holland and Belgium
  • Understand proprietary trading models and all other fundamental analysis carried out by the desk and actively participate in the development of the analyses and contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of such work.
Trading

  • Get involved in the implementation and followup of strategies
  • Help traders to develop new areas of business using strong analytical skills
Support

  • Spreadsheet maintenance
  • Trade support
  • Additional adhoc projects
Compliance

Experience required

  • Graduate level in an analyticallybased discipline i.e. finance, maths, economics or science
  • Prior experience in trading or other front office role
  • Experience and understanding of working within energy markets
  • Knowledge of Dutch and Belgian power markets not required but is a plus
  • Market analysis/Trading/Power scheduler experience not required but is a plus
  • Dutch language knowledge not required but is a plus
Technical requirements

  • Strong IT skills (advanced Excel)
  • Working knowledge of Reuters useful
