The Role:

The Royal Aeronautical Society is a professional body dedicated to aerospace, aviation, and space communities. They exist to further the advancement of aeronautical art, science, and engineering around the world.

The Society offers a wide range of activities to inspire and support the next generation of aerospace and aviation professionals including an impartial aerospace and aviation careers service for members and the public, the flagship primary schools programme Cool Aeronautics, Project Altitude events for secondary schools, and a new initiative being launched in late 2021, the Falcon2 STEM Challenge for schools to design and build a fully accessible flight simulator.

Other key events include the Society's annual Careers in Aerospace & Aviation LIVE recruitment exhibition.


The Education & Careers Officer will join the Royal Aeronautical Society's (RAeS) Education and Skills team to support the delivery of careers, schools' inspiration, scholarships, and educational activities for the Society, working closely with Society members, employers and stakeholders, young people, and education providers.


The Education and Careers Officer will also assist in organising Cool Aeronautics, Project Altitude and Careers in Aerospace & Aviation LIVE, liaising with target audiences such as schools, members, employers, training providers and key partners including venues and suppliers under the guidance of the Education and Skills Manager.


The Education & Careers Officer will also represent the Society at external events such as air shows, university/college careers fairs, STEM events and exhibitions around the UK to advise on careers in aerospace and aviation opportunities and pathways to visitors.


The Education & Careers Officer will attend internal and external board and committee meetings and to provide updates on the team's outreach and schools programme, educational initiatives, and challenges.


About You:


  • Experience in outreach, careers/employability/teaching/coaching experience in a charity/social enterprise, particularly aimed to young people
  • A strong and confident communicator on all levels with previous presenting experience to variety of audiences
  • Ability to build & develop business education relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Work collaboratively with Boards, Committees & Volunteers
  • Passionate about Careers, Education & Learning & Selfmotivated with the ability to use own initiative
  • Have availability to work outside of usual working hours and able to commit to regular UK travel for events and exhibitions

What we Offer:


  • Salary: Up to £29,000 DOE
  • Location: London/Hybrid
  • Hours: Mon
  • Fri 9am to 5pm (some evening/weekend events)
  • Holiday: 33 Days, inc. BH
