Balfor is currently recruiting for an Academic Note taker / scribe/reader to support a student who lives in Derby and attends the Sheffield Hallam University.
Transport will be provided daily for you to Accompany the student to university.
You will be supporting a student a high achieving Software engineering student that has Cerebral Palsy and a metabolic disorder.
The student will be attending Sheffield Hallam university on a part time basis where some support will be required in their own home.
The student will require assistance with Note taking, reading and scribing during lectures, Communication during lectures and to their peers.
The right individual will be working on a one-to-one basis and will be required to support the student with their studies.
Duration:
academic year 2023/2024- Temporary ongoing.
Your Skills:
- You will have experience of working with students with specific learning difficulties.
- You will have quick and accurate typing skills.
- To be able to write clear informative information.
- Be able to communicate clearly.
- Knowledge of Software engineering.
- To be able to give the notes to the students in a reasonable amount of time.
- Creativity adapts learning resources.
Qualifications/Training
- Degree, preferably Maths or equivalent.
- Experience as a note taker reader and scribe within an education setting.
- Subject knowledge of Software engineering.
- Signature NVQ 2 electronic notetaking (desired)
- OCN Level 3 Certificate in Electronic Notetaking for VI students
- CACDP Level 3 Certificate for Manual/Electronic Notetakers
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- To sign in and out on a daily basis
- Assist students to and from lectures.
- To write clear notes by Hand or Electronically.
- Being creative in adapting learning materials to match learners needs.
- Using a range of ways to help them understand what is required in lectures.
- Provide academic support bast on the student's needs.
Job Type:
Part-time
Part-time hours: 15 per week
Salary:
£11.00-£13.00 per hour
