In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of assisting service users and their families in managing their care needs, while ensuring the responsible and efficient use of direct payment funds.

What you'll work on

  • To assist in the day to day operation of the Direct Payment Service in Brent and offer practical assistance to service users and families, who may be considering Direct Payment or using a direct payment to meet their Care needs
  • To financially monitor and reconcile service user accounts and undertake clawback exercise to return direct payments funds that have not been used, whilst highlighting any concerns regarding misuse of direct payment funds.
  • To organise and arrange payment of Service user timesheets and load individual client prepaid accounts with their Direct Payment funds.
  • To provide advice and information to service users and families in receipt of direct payments and assist clients in purchasing care service that meets their assessed needs.
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with relevant internal and external legislation, Council policies, procedures and standards to ensure the delivery of excellent services to customers

A few things to note

  • The rate for this role is £20.52 per hour Umbrella
  • The term for this role is for 5 months initially

What we're looking for

Qualifications and Professional Membership requirements:


  • Minimum GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent through relevant experience/training.
  • NVQ in Advice and Guidance level 2 or relative qualification to post

Experience

  • Direct Payment and community care services or equivalent level of experience
  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable people in a social care context
  • Previous experience of face to face interactions with customer
  • Previous experience of providing advice and information.
  • Experience of report writing and representation at meetings.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a good rapport with team

Skills and abilities

  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, adapting the style to suit the audience.
  • Ability to use council IT systems in relation to the post
  • Ability to listen and establish empathy with service users.
  • Ability to manage diary and workload effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively as part of a team
  • An understanding of financial management.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and resolve problems with the minimum of support

List of desirable criteria:


  • General understanding of Adult Social Care Services and functions
  • Experience of working as support planner/care assessor
  • Experience of Auditing and monitoring accounts
  • Ability to deal with challenging clients sympathetically work with them to achieve best outcome
  • Previous experience of working with in a direct payments team
  • An understanding of financial management.

Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 5 months


Pay:
£20.52 per hour
