This exciting and challenging role is essential to our ministry as we strive to make the Abernethy experience as safe, enjoyable, transformative and valuable, as possible for our guests and our team members.

We are looking for a hands-on team leader to be our Deputy CEO in the management of Abernethy.

First and foremost, we are looking for people who want to serve God in this kind of outreach, so your Christian Faith will be evident in your life.

This multi-faceted role requires a motivated self-starter with a keen understanding of leadership & management.


What are the key roles of the Deputy CEO?

  • Assisting the CEO in the daytoday operation of Abernethy
  • Assisting the CEO in managing the work of the different centres to provide a highquality, safe experience for our guests & teams
  • Being proactive at maintaining and developing our current business
  • Assisting the CEO in the management of the Trust within the constraints of the budget
  • Deputising for the CEO in their absence
  • Assisting with the Spiritual outreach of the Trust amongst the team, the guests, and the wider community
  • To contribute to the spiritual life of the Centre including morning reading and a weekly team fellowship
  • To willingly carry out any other duties and functions associated with the work of the Trust as the need arises

The ideal Deputy CEO will:


  • Have experience of team leadership and operating in a deputy's role
  • Demonstrate proven management and motivational skills
  • Have a minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of risk management and risk benefit
  • Be confident and professional at all times
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels
  • Possess strong organisational, prioritising and deadline management skills
  • Anticipate and identify potential problems and provide solutions
  • Have experience in one of the following: finance, marketing, sales & business development, recruitment, ministries or third sector work
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be a positive Christian role model for both guests and staff

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with a church or Christian charity
  • Previous experience in youth work, working with young adults, mentoring or discipleship
  • An interest in outdoor adventure and the great outdoors
