Job description
The role:
The post will involve managing all elements relating to housing electrical repairs and works, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and current electrical regulations as well as ensuring excellent services are provided to customers and performance against targets meet the client's expectations.
Main responsibilities
- Project manage the delivery of electrical repairs and upgrades including design, inspection and procurement services relating to the maintenance and improvement of domestic properties.
- Ensure that relevant legislation and safety standards are met and occupants/staff safety are secured.
- Be part of an effective operational team, focused on achievement of service plans and departmental priorities, providing guidance in your area of professional specialism.
- Contribute to the development of a culture of collaborative working within the team.
- Assist in the development of minor schemes and ensure they are realised through enthusiasm, clear direction and appropriate use of resources required to achieve compliance, including external resources as required.
- To achieve targeted performance objectives, by close monitoring and regularly reporting on progress and financial issues.
- To promote and encourage excellence in design and specification of all projects undertaken by the team.
- Working with Management and Health and Safety teams, Identify and prepare risk assessments to address relevant Health and Safety issues relating to all electrical aspects of the service provided.
- To ensure services provided are effective and clearly demonstrate value for money, along with a commitment for continuous improvement and high customer satisfaction.
- To maintain the NICEIC registration and record, prepare and coordinate audits by the NICEIC.
- Supervise lower graded staff and assist training
- Assist commercial team in estimating and collating financial data on completion of works.
- Support, train and supervise staff within NCSL maintenance teams. Implement personal training and development plans. Hold and record six monthly one to ones.
- To lead in the recruitment and selection of Electrical operational staff.
- Promote energy efficiency and provide advice/support for the development of energy efficient practices.
- Keep up to date with changing legislation, standards and technology. Assist in the updating of specifications and documents.
- Where appropriate, undertake "callouts" outside normal working hours in line with the out of hours supervisor rota.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the level and character of the post, to include, if the need arises, cover for other work colleagues in areas such as (but not exhaustive to) housing works.
- Where appropriate, provide instruction and supervision to apprentices and trainees.
- To effectively cover for supervisor / surveyor roles in other areas in the business.
