Salary:
Band 8 - £30,621 - £34,833 (Increasing to £30,876 - £35,124 from September 2023 following a transitional pay award period)


Based at:

Sunderland (working NE region and UK wide)**
Objective: To demonstrate commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm in delivering specialist covert tactics to tackle criminality against the vulnerable and those involved in Serious & Organised Crime.


Main Tasks:

The main duties of SSU officers are to carry out covert technical surveillance tasks.


SSU officers are required to undertake surveillance and evidence gathering utilising specialist covert tactics and equipment to assist in the gathering of intelligence, targeting organised criminality and other force priorities.

Personal Characteristics:

The post holder
must hold or have the ability to successfully complete:
Class 1 Advanced Driver (UK Emergency Services or MOD)

National Surveillance (Mobile, Foot and Static - Q1 or MPS, MOD equivalent)

No medical conditions which would prevent outside working, working at heights, in confined spaces or working under pressure.


Vetting level:

Management Vetting (MV) and Security Check (SC)

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 5 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed
