Overview Of RoleAre you a talented Machine Learning Bioinformatician with a passion for advancing the field of bioinformatics? We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team working on an innovative discovery platform, known as KnetMiner.

KnetMiner transforms the integration of genomics, genetics, literature information into comprehensive knowledge graphs, empowering researchers with powerful tools to tell the biological story that links genes to traits and diseases.


As a Machine Learning Bioinformatician within the KnetMiner Bioinformatics Team, this position offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary team focused on developing innovative AI functionality for the KnetMiner platform.


You will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to cutting-edge research that will shape the future of biology as part of a collaboration with Rothamsted Research, University College London, and Cambridge University

Leverage statistical analysis and predictive modelling on biological graph databases to decipher trends, pinpoint biomarkers, and uncover potential genetic targets.

Utilise of machine learning approaches, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and Bayesian methods, to extract valuable insights from high-dimensional biological data such as DNA sequencing, gene expression, and proteomics data.

Combine knowledge graphs and large language models to overcome the limitations of each approach. Using machine learning libraries and frameworks such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, or TensorFlow as well as programming languages like Python.
Familiarity with graph databases and graph query languages such as Neo4j/Cypher is advantageous.
Familiarity with natural language processing or large language models is a plus.
Publication record demonstrating research productivity in computational biology, bioinformatics, or machine learning is highly desired.
Knowledge of workflow management frameworks like Nextflow or Snakemake.
