A fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland's SE Network team as a Roadspace Coordinator.


The South East Unit includes 870 bridges and structures including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.

Trunk roads in the South East serve as a vital link for Scotland's economy, ensuring thousands of daily journeys and deliveries are carried out safely.

An opportunity has arisen for a Roadspace Co-ordinator to join the Network Management team, based at the Queensferry office.

Reporting to the Network Manager, the responsibilities of the role will involve co-ordinating the day-to-day activities on the South East network.

The post holder will assist the Network Manager and network team with road space management. The post holder will deliver the programmes of work, incident management, prepare reports, attend co-ordination meetings and answer correspondence.

This is a full-time role.


Responsibilities include:


  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures that form part of BEAR's Integrated Management Systems.
  • Preparation of correspondence responses to enquiries from various sources.
  • Undertake duties required to manage activities on the South East trunk road network to meet the requirements of Transport Scotland's Network Management Contract and the performance criteria set by the Roadworks Commissioner.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of reports
  • Attend coordination meetings with other Operating Companies, Traffic Scotland, Roads Authorities, Statutory Undertakers, traffic management companies etc.
  • Other duties applicable to the post as directed from time to time by the Network Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • Qualification in a relevant discipline or relevant experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Flexible attitude to working practices.
  • Capable of self management and self motivation.
  • Change management.
