JOB PURPOSE


The post holder will be required to provide accurate, impartial, and up to date information and advice to older people and their carers in line with the organisations policies and procedures.


JOB ROLE

  • To provide information and advice in various settings and appropriate formats, i.e. clients own home, over the telephone, information days, dropin sessions etc.
  • To record referrals, client journey and outcomes using Salesforce
  • To assist clients with tasks such as form filling, letter writing and telephone calls
  • To assist clients to access relevant information and advice, or to signpost them on to a more appropriate service and provide accurate, comprehensive, impartial and timely information and advice responses in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
  • To work closely with the organisations other services to provide holistic support to clients where appropriate.
  • To research, identify and present relevant and appropriate information to the client in an accessible form enabling them to identify a suitable solution
  • Where requested by the client and appropriate to do so, act on the behalf of the client and represent their interests with third parties in an appropriate manner.
  • To attend any training and refresher course as demanded by the post
  • To represent the organisation on relevant local groups concerned with Advice and Information. To attend local, regional and national conferences when required.
  • To ensure the Information and Advice Service is kept uptodate with current good practice, changes in legislation etc
  • To review, monitor and evaluate the service and develop as necessary to maintain a highquality service in line with current good practice and relevant legislation.
  • To be responsible for volunteers who will be assisting the Information & Advise Advisor
  • To keep all volunteers up to date with relevant information
  • To provide a highquality standard of call handling in accordance with agreed procedures
  • A nonjudgemental attitude and a commitment to ensure that all activities operate in accordance with Equal Opportunities
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of information at all times.
  • Reporting any concerns to the Chief Officer
  • To undertake any duties as reasonable requested by the Chief Officer
  • To adhere to the organisation's Information and Advice Policy and Procedures.

Attributes/Skills/Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working in an Information & Advice role would be an advantage
  • General Education to A Level standard
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to understand information given, by listening or reading and using the telephone.
  • Ability to write legible notes and records and to carry out basic calculations
  • Willing to work according to guidelines and standards and to take a flexible approach to work requirements.
  • Have an openminded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
  • Ability to listen to others and to explain things clearly without jargon or being patronising.
  • Ability to identify problems and solutions in meeting the needs of clients.
  • Awareness of discriminatory practices and equal opportunity issues.
  • Ability to work as part of a team; and other agencies; and to seek and offer support when required.
  • Ability to write letters and fill in forms.
  • Must have a valid, full driving license with access to own car

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 36 months


Salary:
£13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
