The role:


Head of Strategy

Manchester, Nottingham and/or London

We're looking for an intellectually curious, proactive and analytical strategist who is able to lead a team and build relationships with senior executives, internally and externally, to help articulate DCC's strategy, identify and track emerging market trends, and engage and influence key stakeholders.


What you'll be doing:


  • Support the Director of Strategy and Chief Strategy and Regulation Officer to build compelling and engaging strategy materials, including for half yearly Board Strategy meetings.
  • Lead the development of the DCC's annual Business and Development Plan, working with teams from across the business to gather the required inputs, engaging with customers and stakeholders as part of the drafting process, and ensuring the final version conveys key strategic messages clearly.
  • Lead market intelligence and research activities, identifying key trends and working with the Head of Policy and Innovation to assess the implications for DCC.
  • Define a strategy and plan for engagement with strategic stakeholders in support of delivery of DCC's wider business strategy, preparing supporting materials and briefings for key meetings.
  • Support the Director of Strategy on ad hoc strategic initiatives, undertaking analysis, translating analysis and key messages into a clear and compelling narrative, and proactively engaging with key stakeholders to socialise messaging where required.

What we're looking for:


  • Extensive experience in business/ corporate strategy teams or strategy consulting.
  • Strong understanding and insight into the UK energy sector.
  • Demonstrable ability to process complex information and present it in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience in communicating with senior Executives in oral and written form.
  • Confidence and ability to engage and develop relationships with senior stakeholders from across DCC and external organisations.
  • Experience in managing teams and coaching others.
