Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent, site-based Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Staffordshire Highways team in Stock-on-Trent
The salary is £ £ per annum**Amey is working in partnership with Staffordshire County Council since 2014, to manage and maintain the county's highways infrastructure. We deliver infrastructure services across 6,000KM of Staffordshire by providing maintenance to road, cycle routes, bridges, tunnels, lighting, drainage, traffic signals, trees and land. By carrying out such works we aim to improve and provide effective highways services for the local residents and communities of Staffordshire.
Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in undertaking the installation of temporary traffic management, and all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils' works, and litter picking.
The standard hours of work are 40h. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview

You will be responsible for:
- Maintain high technical standards
- Attend work briefings as required Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills
- Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works including Carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, drainage
- Participate in summer & winter 24hr standby on a rota basis, Participate with incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, the safe clearance of snowfall
- Carry out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, via a system called Check safe.
- Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system
- To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, subcontractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Full Driving Licence
- & preferably have an LGV Driving Licence category C (Class 2)
- Drivers Qualification (card up to date)
- New Roads & Street Works
- 12D M1-M2 (High Speed Traffic Management)
- Have experience in an industry role such as civil engineering, groundworks, traffic management or any other relevant background
- Be knowledgeable on Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE)
- Be selfmotivated and have a positive attitude
- Be willing to learn and develop new skills
