Project Worker x 8 Positions (Bradford) £10.90 per hour (Full Time - 35 Hours per week)

Horton Housing is a non-profit organisation which has three Group Living Service (GLS) in Bradford, we provide short-term accommodation and support for young people who are leaving care or at risk of homelessness, or are Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) aged 16 to 18 years old.

Each site is staffed 24/7. Young people have their own rooms or self-contained flats with shared facilities including lounge, laundry and garden. All accommodation is fully furnished.

The aim of the service is to provide short-term accommodation and support to young people to help them develop independent living skills.

The young people are then supported to move on to longer-term accommodation.


About the role


We are currently recruiting for a number of Project Workers to cover our three Group Living Services based in Bradford.


You will:

  • Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with our young people
  • Promote, safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our young people
  • Plan and deliver sessions for young people to develop their independent living skills, such as building a positive routine, managing their tenancy or developing their cooking skills
  • Encourage education, work or training for young people to reach their full potential
  • Support with challenges they may face around drug and alcohol, mental health, asylum and offending behavior and providing a secure environment for young people within a group home environment
  • Promote independence and safe behaviors in accordance with the young person's individual support plan, assisting with domestic duties and responding to any emergencies appropriately

Skills and experience:

You will have

  • There will be a requirement to travel to all three Group Living Services as and when this is needed but a driving licence is not essential as you could use other methods of transport
  • The ability to work flexible hours on a rota basis to meet the demands of the post. This includes shift work during the day, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, between the hours of 8am 10pm
  • An understanding and experience of working in an environment that caters for Young People and/or Asylum Seekers in either a paid or voluntary capacity or lived experience
  • It is preferable but not essential that you have experience of working in an environment that is Ofsted registered
