Description

The role of Process Engineer is a key appointment and you will be responsible for conducting research to develop new and improved processes which will include designing and planning layout of equipment, monitoring the process performance throughout production,troubleshooting production problems and proposing and delivering initiative solutions.

You will work cross functionally with our R&D, Projects and Engineering Teams.

You will also lead on the writing and/or up-dating of the Standard Operating Procedure forany new processes that are implemented along with the training and up-skilling of Machinal Fitters and Production employees.


The job is located in (Basingstoke) and may require regular work across our clients two other manufacturing sites also in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

The company currently manufactures approximately 20-30 chemical products processing several thousand tonnes of high value raw materials each year. Finished products are shipped to a worldwide customer base of industrial end users.

Key Tasks

  • Develop, configure and optimise processes from inception through to start up and certification including overseeing and assessing existing processes and workflows.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements to the existing manufacturing process, driving efficiency and cost saving where possible.
  • Propose and implement new innovative ideas to the business, optimising productivity by designing, implementing and testing new procedures.
  • Devise, implement and track metrics to identify areas for improvement. Monitor improvements made as part of process confirmation in line with the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) cycle.
  • Communicating findings and proposals to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring processes comply with applicable health, safety, environment and quality standards.
  • Providing direction and training to team members for successful implementation of process improvement and change.
  • Managing a team of maintenance fitters on a daytoday basis ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on time and implement World Class Engineering and Lean principles.
  • Attend regular meetings with the Operations Manager & Production Managers to assess existing processes.

The Process Engineer is expected to play a major role in this process.

This is a technical role that requires a minimumof A-level standard chemistry and/or mechanical engineering at B grade or higher with some chemistry knowledge alongside mechanical engineering background.

The job holder must be able to balance many priorities and to generate a process of working throughregular / daily issues to achieve set deadlines.


Knowledge, experience & skills The job holder must:

  • Must be educated to Degree level in Chemical/Process Engineering or a similar science/engineering discipline with a demonstrable chemistry knowledge and experience of working within mechanical engineering.
  • It is paramount to be fluent in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. The ability to tailor style to different audiences is also key and this attribute will be assessed at interview.
  • Must have a good understanding of World Class Engineering and Lean principles
  • Experience of managing teams in an industrial environment whilst working to strict safety and quality standards
  • Selfmotivated, flexible, well organised and possessing analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD, AutoCAD or another design software package.
  • Always questioning things and not just accepting the status quo, always looking
for ways to improve.

  • Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
  • Ability to persuade others to change existing practices and buy into new ideas.
