The charity are looking for a
Media Officer with a minimum of 1-2 years of media experience who feels passionate about using their experience engaging with and pitching stories to the national print and broadcast media for a greater purpose.

The key objective of the
Media Officer is to support the Head of Media to raise the profile of our campaigns, advocacy work projects and senior spokespeople The post will cover a broad range of press, media and communications skills


This is a great opportunity for someone that truly cares about issues like climate change, gender equality, inclusion, helping refugees and wants to ensure the voices of young people are represented at all levels of decision-making and believe thateducation is the key to unlocking big change in these areas.

Main responsibilities will include:


  • The
    Media Officer will be tasked in engaging proactively with the international, national
- regional and trade media, including pitching stories and briefing journalists

  • Confident at developing and selling in reactive and proactive news stories, op
- eds and features to national and regional media

  • Writing newsworthy press releases, reactive statements and short stories for their website and newsletter
  • Tracking news and identifying media opportunities for the organisation and their spokespeople
  • Reacting in a timely fashion to incoming press enquiries
  • Ensuring the organisational projects and reports receive coverage in target media
- liaising with our policy, research and project staff to identify and deliver communications opportunities from their activities

  • Ensuring the organisation is a credible source and cited in third party articles
  • Proofing and copyediting reports and research papers and overseeing the printing process
  • Raising the profile of their leadership through opeds, speaking, panel and conference opportunities

Your experience will include:


  • As
    Media Officer, you will demonstrable interest in global issues
  • Excellent written English and verbal skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply
  • Strong news sense and ability to identify and craft stories for media
  • Experience of working with national and regional media. Experience of
- international media would be a plus but not essential

  • Experience of pitching stories to media and understanding of what makes a good
- story for journalists

  • Gravitas to confidently engage with a variety of media and pitch in stories
  • Determined, enthusiastic and proactive 'can do' attitude
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks
- simultaneously

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to get on with people at all levels and from all backgrounds
  • Resilient, a selfstarter and a team player
