Job Duties:


This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of being a Customer Service Supervisor at a busy Tier 1 library within a thriving community.


As part of the Hemel Hempstead Library local management team you will be responsible for the delivery and promotion of all frontline services at Hemel Hempstead Library, including the UKVCAS service, ensuring high standards of customer service are maintained at all times.

You will actively supervise the team, including managing of staff appraisals, timetabling, training and development. You will also support outreach and promotional activities within the community.

To support the delivery of the Inspiring Libraries Strategy for Hertfordshire Libraries by ensuring that all staff actively promote the library to customers as:

  • hub for community information and activities
- a place where they can access and benefit from digital technology
- a gateway to reading, information and wellbeing

This is a supervisory role in a customer facing environment, with line management responsibilities.


As part of Hemel Hempstead Library local management team, a great opportunity to support the community and contribute to Hertfordshire Libraries Inspiring Libraries Strategy.

English Fluency:

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
