National ranging from £65,200 to £90,000 and London £67,900 to £100,000

  • The team/department
  • This role is in the Market Analysis and Policy (MAP) department, a part of the Division of Strategy, Policy and Competition. The Market Analysis and Policy department plays a central role within the Directorates in identifying risks and trends, supporting prioritisation and connecting policy and supervision. One of MAP's objectives is to enhance the FCA's capacity for wholesale market monitoring to further FCA's knowledge of our markets and how emerging trends can impact our firms and our objectives. Market monitoring is a combination of cross market analysis, deep dive on a particular asset class or trend, and strong links with other departments within the FCA.
  • What you will be doing (the role)
  • Continuous monitoring of wholesale market trends and development
  • Reacting to market events with ability to work under pressure, reach out to firms at senior levels and report to FCA senior on developments
  • Working with and influencing stakeholders, internal and external, to deliver outcomes at UK and international level on wholesale markets
  • Participating in a constructive working relationship with other authorities in the official sector (UK and international) and industry stakeholders to understand and resolve challenges
  • Representing the team in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders, providing an effective and constructive liaison point within the department, across the FCA and externally
  • Contributing to and overseeing the preparation of internal and external communications to ensure our internal communications/briefings as well as market expectations are conveyed clearly and wellunderstood by our audience
  • What you will get from the role
  • Will be at the centre of wholesale markets events and the reaction of UK authorities to those events
  • Represent FCA externally. You and your outputs will have a high exposure across the FCA and outside

The skills and experience you will have

  • Minimum
  • Indepth expertise of fixed income, rates, derivatives or commodities markets
  • Excellent ability to synthetise market developments for briefing across the FCA
  • Excellent analytical knowledge of the operation of the UK wholesale markets
  • Good understanding of the UK and EU regulatory architecture
  • Experience of leading complex work
  • Evidence of analysing complex issues, make judgements supported by evidence and presenting key issues and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Essential
  • Demonstrable ability to acquire knowledge quickly and independently
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with senior management, other regulators and staff at all levels within the FCA
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work quickly on key tasks
  • Ability to project plan
  • Working effectively as part of a team by working inclusively
