Role Purpose:


We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic and people-focussed administrator with true potential in the HR profession to provide the full range of support our HR department and growing employee group of 25 at Fair Finance.


Reporting to the Head of Human Resources and working closely with all staff members, this role is a rare opportunity to learn, grow and progress in a scaling department that will truly value your potential and support you in your HR career.

You'll experience the full employee lifecycle from day one, with guidance and collaboration from friendly colleagues.

You'll be exposed to senior leaders and our newest hires by assisting in all aspects of HR operations, people and culture interventions, staff engagement and training.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist across the full recruitment cycle from: developing and editing job descriptions, managing talent pipelines on our applicant tracking systems, administering the interview process internally with hiring managers and coordinating the HR aspects of onboarding
  • Communicate effectively and fluently at all levels to support the Head of HR across the whole People function and employee lifecycle including transactional HR like payroll, benefits administration and absence management, recruitment and retention, learning and development, career progression and pay, DE&I and longerterm engagement projects ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Become a superuser and company goto in the HR technology available at Fair Finance to drive best practice and streamline administrative processes
  • Provide HR administrative support involving the resolution of any arising employee relations issues, working in the strictest confidence at all times
  • Coordinate and issue written communications on all HR matters, included but not limited to HR meetings actions, pay reviews, staff attendance, performance management, employee handbook and any updates relating to Fair Finance's policy, all with guidance from the Head of HR
  • Regularly meet with the Head of HR to plan and priorities the department's administration and work closely with Finance, IT and other departments' line mangers on crossover projects and processes like payroll administration and onboarding new starters.

Skills and Experience:


  • Excellent communicator with the ability and confidence to build relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
  • At least 2 years' experience in an office environment, preferably but not necessarily in an HR, training or recruitment function
  • A true desire to build a career in HR
  • High level of empathy but with ability to manage expectations and difficult conversations
  • Selfstarter who can manage their own workload and take a proactive approach
  • Knowledge of Excel, HR databases and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyse basic data
  • Demonstrate integrity and diligence in your approach to work
  • Already gained or be working towards Level 3 CIPD qualification (we'll pay CIPD membership fees and have options for further support with your formal HR training)
  • Experience in designing and delivering training, presentations or onboarding workshops would be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of UK employment law and the challenges HR teams may face.
