Description

Laytime Settlements Officer - Logistics

Selby/hybrid

About the role

As a Laytime Settlements Officer, you'll manage, oversee and agree settlement of laytime calculations for ~270 vessel movements annually, acting as lead point of contact for all suppliers, including shippers, receivers, freight owners and discharge ports.

Day to day, you'll manage all aspects of dispatch and demurrage, receiving time-logs or 'Statements of Fact' from port agents, checking for errors and submitting timely demurrage or dispatch claims to counterparts based on purchase and sale contracts.

You'll identify any gaps in contracts that give Drax undue laytime exposure and work with internal contract owners and external counterparties to resolve.

Your input will be key in the contract execution process for new agreements, ensuring that all necessary laytime provisions that benefit Drax are captured, and that those proposed by third parties that disadvantage Drax, are excluded or re-negotiated.

You'll be an 'expert' in matters of laytime and seek additional courses/training to further this knowledge, where required.

About you

A background in shipping or ship's agency, including suitable experience working in an operational and commercial environment is key, as is a sound knowledge of all operational processes from a vessel arrival at the port roads, through to sailing.

Using your experience and motivation, you demonstrate a methodical and organised approach, and a sharp eye for detail, while also being able to see the bigger picture.

You'll thrive working under pressure and be able to juggle several different priorities in a rapidly changing work environment. With sound commercial judgement, you'll be able to extract value from contracts in terms of the laytime provisions.

Excellent interpersonal, persuasion, communication, problem solving and influencing skills, you'll have a strong team ethic with the character to fit into the team and working environment.
