An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic midwife to join our specialist midwife team as a Digital Support Midwife on a permanent basis.


You will have an enthusiam for all aspects of digital healthcare and an ability to work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver training, data support, audit and quality improvement.

We are seeking a hard
- working, forward thinking midwife, who embraces change and is keen to develop both personally and professionally. Someone who has a passion for utilising digital technology and who is willing to support and develop Badgernet to improve functionality to respond to service developments and national requirements.

  • Testing bi monthly updates and effectively communicating updates to the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintenance of high standards of data quality within the department.
  • Monitoring and continuously improving standards and the quality of patient care
  • Undertaking audits and support the completion of key audits within the clinical area, including the development and monitoring of action plans.
  • Taking an active role in education, support and training of front line staff to include midwives, student midwives and medical staff
  • Working very closely with the multidisciplinary team and with the other ward managers and specialist midwives to ensure ongoing development of digital systems within maternity.


QE Maternity unit is a consultant led obstetric unit The unit prides itself on the partnership working between midwifery and medical teams.

We aim to ensure that women are at the core of everything we do.


We are working continuously towards improving and developing our services to provide care which is in line with the Maternity transformation agenda and to demonstrate compliance with Maternity safety Initiatives including the Maternity Incentive Scheme and the Ockenden Essential and Immediate Actions.

You will be part of the specialist midwifery team who are pivotal to the delivery of these changes and will support the quality and safety of our maternity service

Promote and uphold a professional image at all times and act in a professional manner in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council regulations

This is a specialist role supporting the digital midwifery lead in the delivery of the digital midwifery strategy.

  • Working very closely with the multidisciplinary team and with the other ward managers and specialist midwives to ensure ongoing development of digital systems within maternity.
  • To provide skilled care and support to mothers and babies throughout pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period within all acute, community and continuity settings (Including homebirth).
  • To support the team leader in ensuring the provision of high quality, evidencedbased care for mothers and babies, within available resources
  • In the absence of the midwife with continuing responsibility the post holder may be required to take charge and supervise staff
  • Supervise the delivery of quality midwifery care
  • To act as the patient advocate
  • Actively participate in clinical audit and research projects relating to midwifery practice
  • Work within terms and conditions of employment, ensuring compliance with all Trust policies and procedures
  • Ensure effective and efficient utilisation of resources
  • Monitoring and maintaining standards of safe care provided for mothers, babies and their families
  • Agreeing specific responsibilities in respect of the management of the service
  • Report incidents, accidents and defects according to Trust and departmental guidelines
Appraise and support development of team members as appropriate

To support and develop junior members of staff and/or student midwives.
