Brief Overview


This is a fixed term full-time maternity cover position for a period of up to 12 months to start in January 2024.


Oadby & Wigston Council are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual, ideally with experience of property letting and management, to join us on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave.


As a Lettings Officer you will monitor and manage soon to be vacant and vacant properties, preparing adverts, and the allocation of vacant properties.

You will keep detailed notes in respect of your workload and maintain effective communication with your team the wider Housing team and your customers.

You will be responsible for tracking void and applicant progression and contributing to the successful handover of new schemes, to ensure KPIs are met.


  • Experience of dealing with customers from different backgrounds, and delivering high levels of service
  • Experience of working in a social housing environment
  • Knowledge of lettings, transfers and mutual exchange processes
  • Confident and proficient user of management programmes
  • Strong administrative skills and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines
  • Experience of designing and working to procedures and policy
  • Experience of updating systems and collating data and providing statistics
  • Excellent customer care skills and a strong commitment to equal opportunities.
  • The ability to deal with people in difficult and challenging situations,
  • Be able to use own initiative and remain calm under pressure.
Please note this role will be a mix of remote and office based working.
