Mechanical Tradesperson
GSK are recruiting a Mechanical Tradesperson on a full-time and permanent basis at the Irvine site.


We are seeking someone that is passionate and able to 'roll up their sleeves' when needed and in return we will offer fantastic career progression and the opportunity to engage with Senior Stakeholders, allowing you to shape and contribute to the success of the business.

Job Purpose


You will provide a maintenance service on mechanical equipment and record results in accordance with appropriate internal and external standards.

You will provide support for mechanical breakdowns and assess any mechanical safety issues.


In this role you will

  • Maintain and test a wide range of process plant equipment to ensure mechanical safety and quality compliance
  • Diagnose and repair process plant equipment and mechanical faults including escalation where necessary to enhance production performance
  • Inspection of process plant equipment to verify the correct and safe operation
  • Verify and support the installation, operation and performance of new project installations as part of commissioning to ensure validation
  • Accurately Record and Report all maintenance activities to provide documented evidence of analysis and audit trail
  • Provide coaching & mentoring to apprentices and new technicians to contribute to their development
  • Ensure all activities comply with site safety procedure and safe systems of work including issuing and accepting permits for mechanical systems including electrical isolations.
  • Conduct suitable handover to ensure job status is communicated to appropriate person.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Served a recognised engineering apprenticeship and educated to NVQ Level 3 and/or HNC in relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of maintaining process plant and mechanical equipment
  • Able to comply with internal and external engineering and regulatory standards
  • Experience of working with process and processing systems including hazardous area.
  • Strong I.T. Skills
  • Knowledge of plant operations and regulations; GMP; Safety
  • Working knowledge of MERPS/SAP
  • Interpersonal skills; Good communications (written/oral), team player
  • Organisational skills; Practical/methodical/forward thinking
