Senior Structural Designer - Concrete Structures & Rebar

£50,000 - £60,000

A highly sought-after opportunity to work with one of the Scotland's most respected and well-known multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultants.

Having been established for over 15 years they pride themselves on the quality of their work and have established a reputation for their high-quality projects from conception through to completion within the industrial, commercial, retail and education sectors.

Due to the continuous growth, they have seen recently they have identified the need for a new Senior Structural Engineer to help the existing team with the new projects they have taken on.

You will be working on a variety of projects up to £155M in value.

The Duties

Prepare structural calculations, specifications, reports and general correspondence.
Brief and supervise CAD Technicians.
Liaise & communicate with external professionals and clients.
Site inspections/surveys
Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
Responsible for layout and details portions of projects using schematic layout.
Provide drawings for our designs and produce sketches to incorporate drawings by designers/drafters.
Provision of technical expertise, leadership, and supervision of same discipline staff on Projects.
To ensure that Engineering is carried out in accordance with procedures and contractual requirements.
Approval of all technical decisions made by personnel under his / her supervision.
Assist in the development of engineering techniques in the Civil Group and bring to the attention of the Discipline Chief Engineer inadequacies in the group's capability for present and future projects.
Prepare technical aspects of contract documentation for civil and structural works.
Provide technical input to tender clarification and evaluation work.
Ensure all members of the team reporting to him/her liaise and cooperate with all members of the Project team.
Report to the Project Management and the Discipline Chief Engineer on general progress including any problems, technical or otherwise, particularly in regard to manhours, program milestones, and resources.
Preparation of cost and manhour estimates for proposals.
Review the scope of work and specifications for proposals.

The Requirements

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Either Certified, or be wanting to work towards being Certified
Ability to design in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
Understanding of soil mechanics and familiarity with the Site Investigation process, with particular reference to foundation design
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Commitment to safety, sustainability, and delivering highquality results.

Salary:
£50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
