On August 1st, 2023, City College Southampton, Eastleigh College and Fareham College will merge to form the South Hampshire College Group*.

This merger represents an exciting opportunity for the region's students, offering defined pathways into employment, with employers benefiting from a more joined up approach that will create work ready employees aligned to the region's growth agenda as well as a fresh start for all staff by embedding best practice, resources and cultures that will deliver an outstanding college.

The merged group (who will all retain their campus names) will have a turnover of around £42 million and employ over 800 staff.

Annually, the group would be responsible for the education and training of more than 3,600 students aged 16-19, over 1,200 apprentices and over 5,000 adults.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled individual to work within a dynamic and public facing team, you will be responsible for employer liaison with regards to a variety of Apprenticeships.


While a background in education or Apprenticeships is not essential, a willingness to learn about our provision, and a commitment to developing employer relationships through our offering is vital.

You will work to maintain existing relationships as well as to build new ones in line with sector and provision growth.

You will need to be well organised; customer focused and have strong communication skills. Aa a multi-faceted role, you will require skills in multi-tasking as well as an ability to prioritise. While office based, this role involves real engagement with employers, learners and faculty staff alike.

You will be required to attend both internal and external careers events, as well as to monitor and report on your own sales activity.


Specific Accountabilities:

  • Support continuous improvement within the BD team by seeking updates and competitor analysis and using this feedback to help inform strategic direction within Fareham College.
  • Independently prepare professional sales proposals that recognise the diverse nature of employers within specific industries.
  • You will hit the ground running and be able to utilise your contact list to promote apprenticeships and staff training.
  • Be skilled in the effective use of customer and prospect contact activities tools and systems, including maintenance of relevant information held in these systems.
  • Support in the creation of employer specific contracts and proposals to ensure clarity of purpose within the partnership.
  • As an experienced salesperson you will be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and lead on the planning of employer engagement and communications based on employer feedback.
  • Being target driven you will work to challenging targets for apprenticeships and commercial training and be able to meet key performance indicators on client visits, continually building your pipeline of employers. You will understand the college's financial allocation for apprenticeships and ensure personal performance meets criteria.
