Description

We are looking for a Healthcare Support Assistant (HCA) with the skills and personality to complement our established team within Warren Hill Outpatients and Diabetes Centre.

The HCA is part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients. - Computer literacy/ experience are essential.

To support all administration and clerical tasks to ensure the day to day running of the outpatient service.

To facilitate smooth organisation of the department including making appointments, consulting with patients, GPs, and other hospital staff.

Be able to work independently within the Department and Trust Guidelines and protocols.

Be able to use own initiative to ensure the smooth running of the department, providing a high-quality service to patients and other service users.

Will be required to function as a chaperone during intimate examinations.

The post requires a degree of self -motivation and the ability to cope with sensitive/ emotionally charged situations. Maintaining patient confidentiality is of vital importance.

To contribute to the effective running of the department by concentrating on tasks that directly support the needs of the patient and assists their journey, prioritising on patients as required

The ability to always work to a high standard, influencing and role modelling patient centred care.

To assist the clinicians in effective care and delivery.

The use of effective communication skills through by treating patients with empathy and dignity and dealing with often scared vulnerable patients.


Monitor the daily running of the appointment lists, advising the practitioners of any changes, delays or information provided by patients.

Manage workloads efficiently and effectively, check clinic lists every morning, ascertaining where slots are available for ad hoc patients.

Assist patients with mobility needs

To present self to patients, visitors in a pleasant and professional manner

Have full understanding of the patients optimum level of mobility and to assist with movement of patients through different care settings

To aid patient during their time in outpatients, demonstrating awareness of each individuals privacy.

Contribute the day to day running of the department and support the needs of the patient journey

Undertake observations in clinic and chaperone

Ensure clinic paperwork is completed correctly

Support on reception as and when required

General admin duties as and when needed
