Payroll Officer

Solihull - Hybrid

Permanent, Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Up to £30,000 per annum plus benefits


Here at Serco, we are seeking a Transactional Payroll Officer to join our payroll team and support our UK Service Delivery Manager to ensure that all payrolls are delivered in accordance with payroll calendars and are legislatively compliant.

We are looking for a team player with in depth knowledge of payroll processes and procedures in a similar sized organisation.


As part of this you'll:


  • Run HMRC processes out of the Resourcelink payroll software.
  • Download HMRC files inbound/outbound filed from HMRC.
  • Foster a culture of openness and honesty challenging inappropriate behaviour from others.
  • Ensure employee overpayment and returned payments are recovered and paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure the team provide a quality of customer service, including interacting with customers, answering queries, and effectively handling customer complaints.

What you'll need to do the role
First and foremost, you'll need to have experience working in a Transactional Payroll Officer role or equivalent.

You will need to have a good knowledge of the payroll legislation and strong oral and written communications skills to ensure excellent customer service is provided to all internal and external stakeholders.

You will be able to focus on results, work to deadlines, and meet performance targets. Lastly, you will be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
