Your new role


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Coordination and Admission Officer to join the School Admissions Team on a full time and permanent basis.

The School Admissions Team are responsible for delivering an effective and efficient admissions service to customers and schools and ensuring the best interest of children and families within the City are met.

As a Coordination and Admission Officer you be responsible for but not limited to the below:

  • You will have to ensure you are knowledgeable on school admission arrangements, be able to work in a highly regulated environment and ensure you are accurate in your advice and actions.
  • Be a strong team member and ensure that our key performance measures are met.

Working pattern


Initially, around a term of working from the office at the Civic Center and once possible to work on a hybrid working of 2/3 days in the office and 2 days working remote.

What you'll need to succeed


As a Coordination and Admission Officer you will need to be able to keep clear, comprehensive, and accurate records, run accurate reports, have good attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively in writing and in person.

Previous experience of working with schools and the public, experience working with statutory guidelines and use of Capita ONE/database would also be an advantage.

You will need to have excellent customer service skills and will need to demonstrate listening skills and the ability to challenge where necessary with confidence and explain your reasoning.

This post is demanding, challenging, vast and varied, and it is desirable that as well as experience of working with databases, have at least two years' experience of front facing customer focused administrative service, have experience in dealing with difficult customer service issues, have experience of using spreadsheet, handing complaints and ideally experience working with a database to deliver decisions.
