I am delighted to be partnering with a very highly regarded local organisation based in Ipswich seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to support with costing and budgeting processes.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop a strong understanding of costing methodologies to provide support and guidance to staff in the preparation of funding proposals and project costings.
  • Support in the development of funding proposals including advising on funding limitations, budgetary guidelines, eligible expenditure, costings and policies, seeking to add value throughout.
  • Seek to maximise recovery of direct costs and overheads in accordance with funder's rules.
  • Conduct quarterly financial reconciliations and take the required actions following these, including informing the budget holder/project lead of any issues or risks regarding spend compared to funding, and report on any project financial risks.
  • Maintain an awareness of the financial aspects and implications of external grants to ensure that the key financial obligations of grants and contracts are complied with.
  • Compile milestone and final financial reports in line with funder requirements both throughout the life of the project and at the project completion stage.
  • Plan and manage a busy and varied workload, giving priority to matters with specific deadlines whilst not neglecting routine daytoday work.
  • Assist the Costing and Reporting Accountant in the completion of external returns by collating and analysing data and producing reports in line with appropriate deadlines for regulatory and other bodies.
  • Assist the management accounting function in the identification, processing and recording of accruals, prepayments and income deferrals and other monthend and yearend tasks
  • Supervise the finance administrators, to include workload allocation and other operational matters to ensure service delivery and essential cover.
  • Attend appropriate meetings, workshops and training events in support of budget management, project costing and income generating activities.
