About The Connect Project/Top Church Training


We are a registered charity called The Connect Project, based in Brierley Hill,

West Midlands.

Our main purpose is to support young people, individuals and families, who are struggling financially, are vulnerably housed, feeling lonely and isolated and challenged by mental health issues. Through an array of specialised support services including 1-2-1 support, group work and volunteering opportunities, we help them overcome their barriers, build confidence and self-esteem to enable them to move forward with their lives.

Part 2. About the Job.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Support Worker to join our team.

This is no ordinary post. As part of our UKSPF partnership, you will be assisting The


Connect Project to deliver on the outcomes set within the UKSPF contract agreement to provide support to people aged 50+ with a disability and health conditions, Women, Young People not in education, employment or training, people with multiple needs such as: homelessness: care leavers: ex-offenders: people with substance misuse and victims of domestic violence.


This project is designed to support vulnerable people who are currently not in employment, education or training and are in need of 1-2-1 intense and mentoring support to build confidence and self-esteem to raise aspirations.

As a Project Support Worker, you will provide a tailored package of support around the individual's needs. You will be required to complete the set monitoring and recording paperwork as laid out by UKSPF specifications.


Through these support programmes, you'll help them to explore and understand their ideas, values and beliefs, building their confidence, self-esteem and life skills to encourage them to talk more openly about the barriers that they are facing and reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety and stress.

You will provide outreach support to enable them to get to appointments with professionals including:


DWP:

GP's and Healthcare professionals:
Drug & Alcohol support services: Housing and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies.


You will assist and advocate with benefit issues relating to their Universal Credit claims and support with PIP appeals and PIP tribunals.


The role also requires improving people's basic life skills, including how to manage their own home, (prevention of homelessness) basic financial management and cooking on a budget.


An integral part of the role will be to support people to reduce isolation and loneliness through accessing our volunteering opportunities and social group activities.

The role will require you to take the lead with our existing group activities, including:

the Women's Group:

Job Clubs:
whilst providing new opportunities for people to make connections to build confidence and self-esteem.

You will also work alongside the Volunteer Coordinator to promote and support the volunteering opportunities at our community café called Harrys, our admin work experiences and volunteering opportunities at our Allotment plot at Hawbush
Community Gardens.


You will work alongside our Alliance Support Team and Family Support team to promote the UKSPF project to those who may benefit from the project support.

You will work closely with the Operations Manager ensuring that targets outputs and outcomes are achieved.

The UKSPF is funded by UK Government and powered through the Levelling Up and

WMCA - West Midlands Combined Authority and therefore we require someone who has previous experience of working on similar government funded projects with a great understanding of the levels of monitoring and reporting processes.
