About the role
Our team is looking for a global insight manager with experience of leading a team and developing people. You will also have a passion for retail and display exceptional skills in market research and data.


The Insight Manager will be a dynamic manager who can lead a small team of analysts creating best-in-class insights for our customers as part of our global research programme.

You'll have a passion for unlocking potential within your team and driving continuousimprovement of our insight work.


You'll bring a collaborative, can-do mindset to the role, with the confidence to lead change and strive for excellence to help us remain at the forefront of the industry and meet the evolving needs of our customers.


Our team's work includes the creation of global, regional, market, channel and retailer insights to drive growth for our customers.

This includes conducting ongoing primary research with retailers in markets around the world, delivering major research projectswith both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, tracking innovation and best practices across the industry, and creating compelling insight content for our web-based Retail Analysis platform.


The Insight Manager responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Insight (Global), these include:

Leading content creation


Working closely with the Head of Insight you will occupy an important role within the team, ensuring delivery of the global content plan with best-in-class insight for publication on IGD's Retail Analysis website, including retail research, reports, presentations,news, store visits and data.


You will also be expected to lead customer-specific projects, providing insights that exceed their expectations in terms of quality and depth of insight.

You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, sharing your research with customers viavirtual or in-person presentations and webinars.


Team leadership


The Insight Manager role will manage a team of analysts to produce actionable insight, opinion and recommendations that meets the needs of IGD customers.

You will support ongoing personal and professional development of your direct reports, providing coachingand maintaining high standards on all research and content created by the team.


You will be accountable for managing workload and coverage within your team, adapting to the changing needs of the organisation, and working closely with a variety of internal stakeholders to build strong alignment.


Leading by example


You will maintain high standards and consistency, constantly seeking ways to improve day-to-day routines and ways of working with key contacts around the organisation.

Seeking ways to continually upgrade the quality of our online products and services throughthe introduction of new tools, methodologies, and approaches to create even greater relevancy and impact of our work.


What you bring

  • Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the food, grocery, and consumer goods industry global industry knowledge would be a significant bonus, but is not a prerequisite
  • Passion for people management and developing your team to reach their full potential
  • Deep understanding of industry data, research methodology and interpretation to help the team produce insightful reports and presentations
  • Exceptional qualitative and quantitative market research skills, delivery of highquality research and capability to manipulate data to deliver robust insights and forecasts
  • Extensive experience of presenting information to senior audiences, either virtually or in person, providing opinions on key topics of relevance that drive impact for the customer
  • Ability to communicate, engage and adapt your approach with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders
  • Curiosity and agility to solve problems, encouraging collaborative working and seeking opportunities for continuous improvements
  • Model IGD behaviours to a high level in all aspects of the role brave, dynamic, progressive, and grounded
