Elm Lane Day Nursery has been established to provide quality care for babies through to pre-school children in a safe, secure and engaging environment.

Our aim is to provide the perfect solution for parents looking for childcare.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Principles as our curriculum, which helps older children to prepare for full time education.

We are OFSTED registered and at Elm Lane Day Nursery we provide a bright colorful setting with the emphasis on safety, security and comfort.


We are strategically located within 10 minutes walk from Dagenham Heathway tube station and about 7 minutes walk from Dagenham East tube station on the district line.

There is off street parking and dropping off spaces with no restrictions.


Working week

Position:
Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprentice

Monday to Friday (shifts TBC)

Total hours per week: 37.5

£5.28ph (Rising after 12 months on the job)


Expected duration:

19 months Apprenticeship programme

  • All learning is completed online with LMP Education (Rated 3rd for best training provider across UK).

Roles and Responsibilities
For the role of the nursery apprentice you will need:

  • To work within the guidelines of policies and procedures; have knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety
  • Knowledge of the EYFS. To contribute to a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff. To prepare and complete activities to suit each child's stage of development
  • To implement the Equality and Diversity Policy. To include having cultural awareness, encouraging diversity and celebrating festivals. Enabling children to feel valued and treating each child as an individual
  • To provide and sustain a stimulating, challenging, welcoming and safe environment. You should be a good role model, have a warm, friendly and patient personality and be caring and sensitive to children's needs
  • To form a partnership with parents. Acknowledging and respecting the importance that parents/carers have in a child's learning. Parents must be involved in all aspects of their child's education, all information must be shared and lines of communication are open at all times
  • To be professional. This means building trusting relationships with children, parents and staff. You should demonstrate good listening skills, be openminded and understanding. Above all, confidentiality is paramount
  • To work as part of a team providing quality care and education. To be aware of your own skills and share knowledge with your colleagues. Carry out your duties in line with the rest of the team and follow instructions from the Manager. To attend staff meetings
  • To promote the physical, social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, moral and cognitive development of each individual child
  • To carry out the procedures for the daily routine. This includes demonstrating high levels of hygiene. Cleaning food preparation areas, bottles, sinks, toilets, toys and equipment. Laundering flannels, towels, bed/cot sheets, painting overalls, bibs etc.
  • To adhere to the Health & Safety Policy. To include awareness of the fire procedure, risk assessments, keeping children safe and awareness of first aid procedure
  • To adhere to strict personal hygiene rules. To include regular hand washing, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), i.e. disposable gloves and aprons when appropriate, to wear uniform i.e. tabards at all times
  • To be aware of the correct manual handling techniques. To include reading the Manual Handling Policy, using the stepladder when appropriate and wearing the correct clothing to minimise risk
  • To check toys/equipment to ensure they are safe to be used by children, checking outside garden is clean and safe. Report and record accidents in the Accident Book.
  • To be a dedicated and reliable member of staff. To show commitment to your position as laid out in this job description. To complete all tasks to the best of your ability. To read the Staff Information Pack and follow its policies and procedures
  • To meet the overall needs of each child within Playaway Day Nursery
