Junior Client Advocate

We are recruiting for a determined, diligent, curious minded, analytical, and hardworking law or history graduate with an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare defence work - whether in the insurance or law sphere or both - to join our market-leadingHealthcare team for 6 months as a junior client advocate.
Role Responsibilities:
The Healthcare team strives to take the stress of dealing with claims - including patient complaints, medical malpractice litigation, vicarious liability claims, inquests and regulatory matters, completely off their clients' shoulders.
- As junior Client Advocate you will be tasked with ensuring that clients are notifying matters correctly and will help to notify claims and complaints to insurers and assess coverage (i.e., whether the policy applies in order for the insured to benefit fromclaims support including payment of that claim where relevant) of those matters.
- The role will help you build your negotiation skills as well as an empathetic attitude when dealing with clients in difficult situations.
- You will have the opportunity to attend conferences with counsel and expert witnesses, and to take notes of those meetings.
- You will gain experience in analysing likely liability on matters, and documenting and evidencing those views, which will be supported by the various clinical notes, internal clinical views from our clients, witness statements and expert witness reportswhich you will need to understand, distil and draw from, and you will help to keep a record of these views which forms the basis of our reports to the clients.
- You will also gain insight into how we calculate quantum (value of the claim) and how insurers hold back enough funds to cover the possibility of having to pay out on a claim
- Driving client matters forward to obtain quick and costeffective resolution to whatever problems they face.
- The role requires an excellent communicator to assist our team in proactively managing our claims portfolios; liaising with panel firms and insurers to ensure our clients' best interests are always the first priority.
- The role will also involve insight in respect of patient complaint responses, staff statements, internal investigations, and serious incident reports.
- Undertake research to help our team write relevant articles and give presentations in this arena
- 1 or 2:1 degree in Law or History
- Exceptional attention to detail, good writing, grammar, and spelling skills are essential
- Excellent analytical ability
- Superior interpersonal skills with a tenacious and a pragmatic approach to delivering excellent client service
- Good organisational skills to manage clients 'needs and timelines, with a proactive approach to work.
- Energy, enthusiasm, and appetite to learn and develop as part of a growing team
