About the Role:

Have you managed a team in the NHS or would like the challenge to do so? Are you an experienced GP Receptionist looking to further your career?


A rare opportunity has become available for a Team Leader for our Reception team at Ambrose Avenue Group Practice in Colchester.

The position is a full-time role (37.5 hours) over Monday - Friday.


Key Duties include:

  • Working as an active member of the team to appreciate reception issues
  • Ensuring the professional and efficient operating of reception
  • Supporting, motivating and developing the reception team
  • Assisting colleagues in the management of demanding patients
  • Preparing cover rotas and managing leave and shortterm absence
  • Setting up and reviewing admin processes to ensure optimum working
  • Representing reception in discussions & implementing decisions that affect them
  • Conducting appraisals and performance reviews
  • Work closely with the operations manager and clinical colleagues to improve care
  • Introducing new technologies to enhance patient communication and care


Ideally with experience of working in General Practice or a wider NHS reception role, the successful applicant will have excellent customer service skills, resilience in abundance and a positive outlook on life.


We are looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, is supportive and encouraging of colleagues and comfortable adapting to constantly changing priorities.


You must be a first-class communicator who is confident of engaging with a diverse range of people to ensure that they get the care they need at the right time.


You should demonstrate a willingness to go the extra mile to provide high quality patient care, balancing compassion towards others with sensitivity in managing potential conflict.


About Us:

We have a large, friendly reception team based over two sites at our practice.

You will join our current team leader in managing the reception team to help patients access the right services and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

You will work closely together and with the Operations Manager to improve and grow the service here at the Practice.
