Your responsibilities
We have an exciting vacancy for a Sustainability Business Partner to join our QHSE team.

The role would require travel to all our sites which include Birmingham, Preston, Darton, Milton Keynes and Northern Ireland, so if you were based in a location that could easily commute/travel, that would be beneficial.

This role is supporting the business to ensure fundamental business sustainability processes are established, implemented and developed.

A passion for sustainability and experience of project management would be advantageous, supporting us to achieve one of our core our business objectives of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

Building a community to support the sustainability strategy will be critical to achieving this.


Your main duties will be:

  • Be the expert and promote innovation in a particular area of Environmental sustainability, such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, sustainable buildings, and business practices
  • Identify opportunities to benchmark both internally and externally best practices and implement solutions
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of relevant data to influence the development of the sustainability strategy
  • Drive overall education and engagement of the key stakeholders: employees, suppliers and partners, local communities, and customers
  • Responsible for managing and improving data collection processes, overseeing and driving and ensuring annual environmental reporting is accurate and as required
  • Identify opportunities that deliver sustainable solutions supporting the overall business and sustainability strategies specifically the carbon neutral strategy 2030
  • Keep up to date with the Environmental and Sustainability agenda including upcoming national/international statutory requirements, and update internal strategy and processes accordingly
  • Identifying and supporting the development of sustainability including social value agendas on individual projects, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team
  • Develop and support the delivery of SBTs relevant to the business strategy
  • In conjunction with the Supplier Quality Engineer identify strategies to build relationships to ensure appropriate supplier development to deliver sustainable supply chains
  • Own the business risk assessment ensuring that the business continuity plan is implemented, tested and relevant

Your profile

Essential experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Sustainability degree or qualification (e.g NEBOSH Environmental or IEMA etc.) or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental/sustainability issues and opportunities
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability legislation and how this applies to a business operating in a global context.
  • Working knowledge of environmental management including successful implementation of projects in order to deliver change.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project
  • Good written/oral communication skills for reports and presentations and an attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of the ISO standards and proven experience in the implementation of these standards
  • Proven experience of managing projects from conception to final implementation

Desirable experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Automotive, defence or aerospace industry experience
