The Company


Greens of Soham is part of Spearhead International which farms over 75,000 Ha across Central and Eastern Europe with a well-established track record of delivering solid business and revenue growth.

In the UK we farm in excess of 2,000 Ha, primarily in East Anglia but with operations also in Northumberland and the Scottish borders.

Our primary focus is potatoes and beetroot and we are the largest grower of these crops in the UK. In addition, we grow onions alongside traditional cereal and sugar beet crops.


The Role - Washer Supervisor


We are currently seeking a Washer Supervisor (also known as Mobile Grading Team Leader) to oversee the smooth running of the mobile vegetable grading operations, liaising with our growers and ensuring demands and delivery deadlines are met for our customers.

An important objective of this role is to ensure that the contracted service agreed with our suppliers (our growers) is provided in a timely and professional manner and that our reputation is upheld.


Key Responsibilities
As well as the daily management of the washing and grading facility, the following duties form part of the role:

  • Supervision of grading teams, including agency workers
  • Maintain and continue to build good relationships with growers and manage the operations on their sites
  • Ensure quality is checked throughout the production process and high standards are kept
  • Liaise with customers and maintain excellent communication
  • Supervise all movement of crop and machinery on and off site
  • Ensure we are compliant with regards to Health and Safety and Food Safety
  • Report in the appropriate timely manner on all incidents and nonconformances
  • Any other tasks that be required in order to ensure smooth operating of the mobile line

Desired Experience and Skills


The role requires someone who is self-motivated and can think on their feet and react to changing demands and orders at short notice.

The ability to communicate clearly and effectively is a must as is the requirement for attention to detail.

Experience of managing teams is desirable and experience of working within agriculture or fast-moving consumer goods is advantageous.

As this is a front-end customer service role, experience of dealing with third parties or customers of any kind is essential.


Desired Qualifications

  • Full (clean) driving license
  • Counterbalance forklift truck qualifications
  • Any agricultural and health & safety qualifications are advantageous

Package
This is a remote/mobile working role and the need to travel is essential. Overnight stays may be required.

There will be the need to work weekends (approximately 2 in 4) and some bank holidays; time off in lieu will be given and where flexibility with working hours can be offered it will be.


Good salary available plus benefits including employer matched pension, life assurance and other benefits including holiday buy and sell scheme's.

A vehicle is also provided.
