An opportunity has arisen to join our Management Liability Claims Team as a Claims Advocate where you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive claims service to Marsh's management liability clients with a focus on technical expertise and complex recoveries.


Department overview


You will be part of the Marsh UK FINPRO practice which includes Financial Institutions, Professional Indemnity, Management Liability and Specie.

You will report into the FINPRO Claims Advocacy team leader but work closely alongside the Management Liability placement practice.

The Management Liability team places Directors' & Officers' Liability, Crime, Employment Practices Liability, Pension Trustee Liability and POSI cover for commercial clients.

Our client base includes a significant number of FTSE 100 businesses.

The FINRPO Claims Advocacy team provides advocacy services on behalf of clients where assistance is required on more complex aspects of claims.

  • Demonstrate technical ability, market knowledge and the personality to build relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Join a team of experienced market professionals. Some have experience in a particular business line; others have a more general caseload; some have 30+ years in the insurance market; others have significant experience at law firms managing coverage disputes.
  • We focus on developing our talent, whether that is through technical courses or training for leadership positions. We have a strong "growourown" policy.

We will rely on you to:

  • Work closely with clients, overseas offices and other colleagues in providing strategic, technical and tactical claims advice.
  • Guide the management liability clients through complex insurance claims under directors & officers, employment practices liability, crime and pension trustee liability policies.
  • Advocate on behalf of Marsh clients with insurers.
  • Contribute to thought leadership on issues affecting management liability clients.
  • Provide training for placing and claims colleagues.
  • Provide support to the management liability team through the feedback of claims intelligence to product development colleagues.
  • Support the business in winning and retaining clients.
  • Manage client relationships from a claims perspective.
  • Capture actionable, aggregate data for use by clients in future preincident planning and risk management.
  • Comply with appropriate regulatory, systems and controls procedures.

What you need to have:


  • Experience of resolving complex financial and professional lines insurance claims.
  • Significant proven claims management experience.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship management skills.

What makes you stand out:


  • Experience of presenting to clients and colleagues.
  • Legal qualification and experience in private practice dealing with coverage disputes preferred, but not essential.
  • Ability to identify revenue opportunities and secure engagements.
