We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled Clinical Specialist/Clinical Psychologist to join our community based team offering assessments and interventions to children and young people with a learning disability and their families.

Assume responsibility for own case list and case management of children, adolescents and families managing your own caseload and providing direct clinical work (assessment and treatment)
You will be responsible for ensuring that staff within the team achieve positive outcomes for children, young people and their families and that these are evidenced by performance indicators such as activity data, targets and quality measures.
Participate and/or lead in joint complex assessments, including risk assessments, with other disciplines and other agencies and provide reports for referrers, families and other agencies as required
Formulate care plans, based on assessments. Sharing this with the young person and their parents / carer in accessible formats.
Assess safeguarding issues for each case and refer concerns to Child Protection services.
Maintain good relationships and clear lines of communication with other professional agencies and departments, providing specialist advice and support where appropriate
Ensure that all recording and reporting of client contact is accurate, up to date and of good quality and within CAMHS & NMC requirement standards of record keeping. Ensure that data and clinical information individual on clinical activity is collected and entered onto ePJS by all Team members
Participate in the delivery of parenting groups

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has the most comprehensive child and adolescent mental held service in the country.

National leaders in their field, working in both the Trust and associated Universities have a profound influence on our understanding of mental health problems in childhood, on the development of treatment approaches and on service development and evaluation.

The service is made up of seven clinical units:

National and Specialist Outpatient Services, National and Specialist Inpatient Services, the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon and a service in Abu Dhabi.

As well as providing a range of services to local children, professional staff provide specialist tertiary services to children and adolescents throughout the country.

Adolescent Units at Maudsley Hospital, the Bethlem Royal Hospital plus a Children's Unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital provide supra regional tertiary inpatient treatment and assessment.

Professional staff also work closely with local authority social services, education, community health services, acute paediatrics, primary care, the voluntary sector and the criminal Justice system.

With senior colleagues, evaluate and review the therapeutic strategic outcomes for the teams and set aims and objectives and the monitor practice to assure quality standards of care.
Share day to day responsibility for the quality of delivery of clinical care with the Team Manager, consultant staff and other colleagues. Where appropriate supervise case work across the team and contribute on the clinical performance of team members at appraisal.
Establish and maintain evidencebased practice.
Where appropriate, provide clinical supervision to members of the team, which will include assisting them in planning their workload and in revising their care plans for individual patients.
Manage day to day clinical risks and where required clinically advise team members on courses of action. Ensure that team members follow systems of safe practice and that operational policies are adhered to.
Ensure that all recording and reporting of client contact is accurate, up to date and of good quality and within CAMHS & NMC requirement standards of record keeping.
Contribute to the effective functioning of the team and service through chairing/leading relevant meetings, taking responsibilities within the clinical service as appropriate and negotiated with the team leader
Implement new service protocols or service interventions based on experience, audit and development and advise the wider service on these.
Provide clinical supervision and or appraisal to junior members of the team, which would include assisting others in planning their workload. Where required undertake staff appraisals.
Monitor and improve the standard of service delivery of the team via through the implementation of clinical governance procedures such as audit and the development of protocols. Introducing new clinical practices based on research evidence and other evaluation work with the agreement of the Team leader, clinical colleagues, Lead Clinician and Service Manager.
Ensure that the team is a good quality learning environment for CAMHS students and trainees.
Participate in student and trainee placements and offering supervision and mentorship as appropriate
