WHAT TO EXPECT
We are seeking a dynamic Designer, to join our Materiality team.

As a key member of our creative team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the aesthetic and functional aspects of our vehicles by leveraging your expertise in material selection and design innovation, as JLR accelerate the delivery of their vision to be Proud Creators of Modern Luxury, with a sustainability-rich reimagination to achieve net zero carbon emissions across our supply chain, products and operations by 2039.


This role has the responsibility for contributing to designing and developing sustainable and responsible colour and materials content within the Materiality organisation for Our House of Brands - Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar programmes for both Core and Special Vehicles including Bespoke.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Knowledge, skills & experience:


Support in researching trends, landscape shifts, analogous industry and new ideas for next generation vehicles and create vehicle line material strategies for future implementation.


  • Work on research and development activities for new colours and materials, create inspiring Materiality concepts and realise concepts through creation of digital and physical assets and prototyping ideas.

Assist in the design, development and implementation of colour and material design proposals feeding into Materiality strategies, concept cars, vision properties.

Ideas for direction and create multimedia presentations to communicate these.
Support the project management of vehicle builds and development related to colour and material design.

Support Interior and Exterior teams with property builds (this could include - providing quotes to business office to procuring materials, providing renderings/callouts as well as being on location to support the builds)Conduct competitor benchmarking and co-ordinate and collaborate with external suppliers.


  • Translates material concepts from 2D to 3D product / Support of the production of components to specification.

Essential:


Proven creative and presentation skills, including advanced use of Adobe and Microsoft Office software and ability to use internet resources appropriately for research purposes.


  • A good understanding of product design, combined with good aesthetic judgement, colour vision and colour perception.

Passion for Colour and Material Technology, sustainability and Design as evidenced by understanding of analogous industries, up to date in field literature, innovations and Trends.

Proven ability to take accountability for own work, including the quality, accuracy and efficiencies around projects.
