Summary

  • Seeking motivated and highly skilled Registered Nurses to join the team at OneWelbeck Surgery in Central London, an exciting start up facility offering a new perspective on day surgery in the U.K.
  • OneWelbeck Surgery is part of the OneWelbeck development. OneWelbeck consists of a group of linked but operationally independent day case centres located across seven floors at 1 Welbeck Street.
  • Future plans include development of other centres in the UK and internationally.

OneWelbeck Surgery

  • OneWelbeck Surgery was founded by a group of leading Consultants with a goal of developing a stateoftheart day surgery centre in Central London near the Harley Street medical area.
  • The purpose built 7,000 square foot Centre includes 3 laminar flow theatres and 12 ensuite patient pods.
  • The centre opened in May 2020 and now opened its third theatre, performing orthopaedic, general, colorectal, breast, gynaecology, ENT, cardiac and pain management procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the operating theatre according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure, to include but not be limited to, assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments
  • Works collaboratively with healthcare team and consultants to ensure preference cards are current and accurate
  • Carry out scrub duties according to policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement, and promoting best evidence based practice
  • Promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals
  • Provide managerial accountability in the absence of the Team Leader under the supervision of the Clinical Manager
  • In addition to clinical duties, the direct supervision and training of junior staff will be your responsibility in order to ensure the provision of a high quality and cost effective service to patients and users
  • Ensures the appropriate and safe positioning of the patient according to patient need, planned procedure and monitors throughout procedure
  • Monitors and ensures aseptic technique is maintained at all times when required
  • Coordinates and manages traffic flow through theatre while procedures are being performed
  • Supports theatre team by providing effective management of equipment and supplies throughout procedure, problem solves as needed
  • Ensures sterility and/or high level disinfection of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure
  • Manages tissue specimens accurately according to policy and procedures
  • Administers medication(s) per consultant request and documents appropriately
  • Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation during procedure
  • Documents accurately, legibly and in a timely manner following policies and procedures
  • Considers cost containment by ordering and using supplies economically and by managing efficient patient flow
  • Organises activities, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
  • Undertake all activities in a professional and proficient manner, including mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure
  • Transports patients to or from the operating theatre, observing policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Proactively participates as a team member in all aspects of the surgical process
  • Actively participates in quality assessment and performance improvement activities
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to patient & maintains patient's privacy and dignity
  • Adheres to professional code of conduct

Profile

  • Registered Nurses with current NMC registration (essential) or Registered ODP's with scrub training and registered with HCPC
  • A minimum of 1 year post registration experience in a theatre setting (essential)
  • Current BLS certification (essential) ILS certification (preferred)
  • Experience in providing recovery care to patients having undergone all aspects of anaesthesia, including sedation, local or general anaesthesia, and regional blocks (desirable)
  • Experience of working in preoperative setting with responsibility for preoperative assessment, cannulation and preparation for patients for surgery (desirable)
