Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Market Risk Management is an independent risk group, reporting to the firm's Chief Risk Officer (CRO), which identifies, measures, monitors and controls the financial risks related to movements in market prices.

The organization serves as the key interface for discussing risk issues on a respective trading portfolio with the trading desks.

CIB Market Risk coverage performs the following primary functions:

  • Quantification of the risk of a potential loss of value in assets and liabilities due to changes in market variables, e.g. FX, interest rates, equity and commodity prices
  • Ongoing monitoring and control of a business unit's exposure to market risk through risk limits
  • Performance of stress testing and qualitative risk assessments of a business unit's trading portfolio
  • Facilitation of efficient riskreturn decisions
  • Regular dialogue with the trading businesses with respect to risk appetite, risk limits and individual large and complex transaction
As an Associate you'll be a part of the Currencies and Emerging Markets ("CEM") Coverage team.

You will focus on the EMEA Emerging Markets Rates desk, with opportunities to contribute to the wider CEM team agenda.


Job responsibilities

  • You will be following the global financial markets, focusing on price movements and events affecting the trading portfolio, with the goal of highlighting top risks to the trading business and the Market Risk management team
  • You will be challenged to be innovative in looking for threats and weaknesses in the risk profile and expected to be proactive in bringing these to the attention of the trading business and the Market Risk management team
  • You will perform scenario analysis and stress testing, conduct adhoc and regular risk analysis as well deep dives into various risk themes. You will form an opinion based on supporting analysis and communicate recommendations and escalate concerns, as appropriate
  • Your product coverage will be wideranging, including linear products, derivatives and nonlinear structured products
  • You will have opportunities to work on technology & data science solutions to ensure the market risk infrastructure remains bestinclass

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Solid problem solving abilities with exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Capacity to understand risk measures/P&L drivers on linear and potentially nonlinear products
  • Ability to aggregate and analyse large sets of data for presentations to senior management
  • Programming experience such as python and/or ability to use technology to streamline processes
  • Genuine interest in underlying drivers of the global macro economy and resulting impact on currency and fixed income markets
  • Lateral thinker, tenacious, with a commitment to getting things done and to improving the way we do things
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite along with excellent written and spoken communication skills
