Opportunities will exist for the post holder to attend ward and board rounds, radiology meetings, stroke and neurology teaching on the Charing Cross site.


The post holder will have the opportunity to:
Participate in departmental audit, clinical governance and service development projects.

CNRU contributes data to the national dataset for specialist rehabilitation UKROC (UK Rehabilitation Outcomes Collaborative), this provides a vast amount of data to analyse and use for service improvement projects with the potential to present at national meetings.

This post will provide opportunities to teach medical students from Imperial College London.

Charing Cross Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (CNRU) is an innovative, 16 bed level 2B Specialist Rehabilitation Unit with an additional 4 beds in the community under the Specialist Neuro-Rehabilitation Outreach Service (SNROS).

CNRU admits patients with a variety of neurological conditions which includes longer term complications such as spasticity, bladder and bowel management and chronic pain.

The post holder will have opportunities to manage patients for the duration of their stay which can last from weeks to a few months and provide the post holder with opportunities to get a good understanding of the disease process that impact on neurological functions.

The post holder will then be able to see how these impairments can be reduced or managed with a view to improving the quality of life of the patient on discharge.

Rehabilitation Medicine offers continuity, teamwork and the opportunity of bringing together scientific and humanistic aspects of medicine in a secondary care environment.
