We are looking for a flexible, energetic and enthusiastic colleague who understands and is passionate about the world of yarn.

You will be a great fit if you have an outgoing personality, a strong understanding of yarn, knitting and even better if you know about crochet as well.

You will have the ability to provide advice and support to our customers regarding yarn weights, pattern choices and as necessary problem solve.

You must have experience of working in a retail environment, and an excellent work ethic and communication skills.

You will be confident dealing with the public because providing the best experience and advice is what makes us special and means our customers return to us time and again for our expertise.

You will be providing hands on assistance to customers in the purchase of patterns and yarns including sundries. Provide expert advice to queries regarding knitting and crochet issues customers have and ensure that Yarn Etc. maintains an excellent reputation for quality service.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide excellent customer service, greeting customers and providing assistance as required, communicating in an appropriate and respectful manner with colleagues and customers

̈ Ensure the shelves are appropriately restocked, faced up, and items are stock rotated, this

will include working using steps at height and at low level also accessing all the units at floor

level.

̈ Serve customers using the EPOS system, take cash or card payments using the payment

Machines.

̈ Open the store and set up for the day.

̈ Clean up and tidy following classes as required including restocking of workshop

facilities.

̈ Cleaning and vacuuming of the shop/store/kitchen/toilet on rotation with other staff members.

̈ With support undertake changes in window displays.

̈ Take phone messages, including phone orders and processing of online orders, posting of

orders on occasion.

̈ Being familiar with knitting and crochet techniques to advise and support customers with

pattern and yarn choices, and to provide any problem solving required.

̈ Be prepared to train and maintain knowledge of yarn weights, yarn contents and purposes.

̈ Close the store at the end of the day.

̈ Maintain and tidy stock room.

̈ Undertake stock counts.

̈ Accept, unpack, check off and input onto epos system any stock deliveries.

̈ Use the correct tools for the accessing of top and bottom shelves, ensuring that you are

expected to be responsible for your own health and safety.

̈ Ensure that customers are treated with dignity and respect.

̈ Acting in a way that recognises the importance of people's rights, interpreting them in a way

that is consistent with practice procedures and policies, and current legislation.

̈ Behaving in a manner that is welcoming to and of the individual is non-judgmental and

respects their circumstances, feelings, priorities, and rights.

̈ Escalate any queries to the shop owner or more senior member of staff as required.

̈ Maintain confidentiality when handling customer information.

Part-time hours: 15 per week


Salary:
£10.42 per hour
