Description
To provide secretarial and administration support to the CF & Respiratory Medicine Team as and when required. To work across the various areas of the respiratory team.

All duties will always be indirectly supervised by the Respiratory Medical Secretary Team Leader

The Consultant is organised effectively and efficiently so that he/she can operate all their clinical and non-clinical commitments.


Patient episodes are organised effectively and efficiently so that the patients are seen without clinical risk and within NHS guidelines and targets.


The Trust can accurately review and report compliance with relevant NHS guidelines and targets regarding waiting times and patient activity.

Actions resulting from each patient episode are planned and followed up within agreed timescales.

Completed investigations are available to each consultant and the appropriate healthcare team, when required.

Patient admission episodes are planned and organised effectively and efficiently, in accordance with consultant requirements.

Understanding and knowledge of medical terminology.


Input and look up patient data on the computer in accordance with hospital policy using the various system in place within the trust.

To enter data on patients into the Departmental database as appropriate.

Arrange meetings and appointments as necessary.

Photocopying/scanning letters and documents as required.


To assist any Medical Secretary as directed by the Respiratory Medical Secretary Team Leader in times of pressure of work.


Any other duties as designated by the Respiratory Medical Secretary Team Leader to ensure the smooth running of the medical secretarial service.

Work within local Trust policies and procedures, living the Trust values.
