Associate Director, Global Steel

OPIS has an opening in its research team for an Associate Director, Global Steel. You will take a leadership role within McCloskey's growing steel practice, with a focus on Green Steel.
You will be a critical part of our Steel and Steel Raw Materials group, and within the McCloskey research team.
This is a senior position within the global research team, reporting to the global head of research. It will involve managing junior staff. You will also work alongside our industry-leading journalists and price reporters.Responsibilities
- Maintain monthly and weekly deliverables covering steel and its related products, with an early focus on Green Steel.
- Maintain monthly supply and demand balance sheets and price forecasts.
- Periodic research pieces on topical industry issues (eg. regulatory/policy developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipeline, ESG).
- Lead the maintenance of McCloskey's global steel database and green steel project pipeline.
- Maintain client and industry relationships bringing these relationships from prior roles.
- Share and source market intelligence.
- Lead bespoke consulting engagements.
- Engage in business development, assisting
OPIS' account managers in the sales process through maintaining sales pipelines and assisting in the sales process. - Be a public face of McCloskey and
OPIS in the steel space, via client/partner engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, content marketing.
Required Skills:
- Substantial experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries or markets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrable impact and influence skills.
- Excellent ability to present and to lead public discussions (eg. moderating panels at conferences)
- Qualitative skills (strong MS Excel and VBA, knowledge of Python, SQL, PowerBI advantageous)
- Written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Manage others while maintaining personal output
- Bachelor's degree (in in a quantitative discipline preferred)
