Responsibilities:

• Process and maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
• Bank reconciliation
• Prepare and process journal entries related to accounts payable transactions
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues
• Collaborate with the payroll department to ensure accurate recording of employee wages
• Assist with tax compliance and HMRC Submissions of VAT and CIS
• Receipt customer payments.
• Assist with monthend and yearend closing processes, including account reconciliation

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a purchase ledger clerk or in a similar accounting role
• Strong technical accounting skills, including knowledge of journal entries and account reconciliation
• Familiarity with payroll processes and procedures
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
• Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial data
• Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements is a plus

Previous experience in the construction industry would be an advantage but not essential.
