The role


Do you have experience executing best-in-class CRO campaigns, helping business leaders understand the value of experimentation, and growing and managing a team of conversion specialists? If so, this role might be an excellent fit for you.

We're seeking a Head of CRO/Experimentation to join Impression.

Reporting to our Organic Director and sitting as part of our management team, the role is responsible for both service and team leadership.

You'll work with your direct team to nurture the very best in conversion-focused strategy and be responsible for the continued management and growth of our CRO department.


The salary for this role is:

  • £47,000
  • £55,000 DOE, plus a 6k London weighting if you live in the Greater London area

Who are you?
To be considered for the Head of CRO/Experimentation role at Impression, you will need to:

  • Demonstrate your passion for all things experimentation, including CRO, UX, testing and maturity frameworks, and web psychology
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset, evidencing this through business development and marketing initiatives, including public speaking, webinars, social media posting and blogging.
  • Demonstrate your experience with driving measurable results through CRO strategy, and overcoming challenges, through your technical knowledge, strategic thinking and innovative solutions.
  • Experience across a number of verticals and industry segments, including lead generation and ecommerce.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of at least one A/B testing platform, e.g. VWO, Webtrends Optimise, Optimizely, AB Tasty etc.
Have an excellent working knowledge of web analytics solutions, specifically Google Analytics.

  • Have an excellent working knowledge of behaviour analytics tools, e.g. Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity etc.
  • Able to showcase a commitment to ongoing team training, covering the fundamentals and advanced concepts surrounding experimentation, as well as the technology involved.
  • Have experience with capacity and workforce planning, including recruitment where required.
  • Have experience in objective setting, setting department performance indicators and reporting for a portfolio of multichannel accounts.
  • Have experience in department process improvement via iterative testing and maturity frameworks
  • Have experience in a similar role (ideally agencyside but inhouse/brandside also considered).
  • Demonstrate excellent client/stakeholder management skills, and be able to tell us how you deliver great experiences.
  • Be a team player, capable of building relationships across teams at all levels.
  • Have demonstrable experience managing multiple, sometimes conflicting, deadlines.
  • Be a natural when it comes to adopting new software and technologies.
  • Have demonstrable experience building your profile through blogging, public speaking, a strong social media presence, etc.
  • Be a strong communicator, both written and verbally.
  • Have a demonstrable expert level of experience in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (Impression uses Google Sheets and Google Suite).

What will you be doing?

As the Head of CRO/Experimentation, you will:

  • Be responsible for the levers that inform department revenue and gross profit against growth targets.
  • Take responsibility for the department's outputs when delivering endtoend UX and experimentation strategy for Impression's CRO portfolio.
  • Manage the monthly capacity and overheads of the department according to utilisation and GP targets, working collaboratively with the CRO team, our freelancer network and technology partners to do so.
  • Inspire and lead the department to get the best outcomes for individuals and Impression's clients through effective line management.
  • Grow your profile and that of the agency via Impression's marketing plan, specifically through public speaking (via conferences, webinars and workshops) and publishing thought leadership content (via social and
